Wondering what to bring or what to wear? What about the weather? This page will answer all your questions!
You dont’t need to bring anything but yourself! We do recommend you bring a light jacket if you are on the sunset cruise and your favorite sunscreen. A hat and sunglass are great too.
Kids are welcome! We think sailing is a great experience for the youngsters. Remember we require all children under 10 to wear a lifejacket at all times.
The maximum number of passengers is 6. My USCG license is called the 6 pack license for a reason – max of 6 passengers.
Weather is always a factor in sailing and unfortunately we don’t control it. If we don’t go out we will refund your ticket.
Unfortunately in the summer time in south Louisiana rain showers do pop up. If it rains on us while we are out you can cower below in the spacious cabin or don a poncho (or not) and enjoy the rain with the captain topside.
We sail in light air. On Lake Pontchartrain the wind is always variable so again we don’t control it. If the wind is light we’ll put up the sails and motor sail. It’s not ideal but still fun!
Yes we have air conditioning onboard for particularly hot summer days, but usually the cool breeze from the lake is all you need.
You are welcome to bring your own favorite beer, wine or champagne. We have glasses onboard.
We ask you not to bring hard liquor or drugs (legal or illegal) onboard because the insurance folks really frown upon hard liquor and sailboats. Can’t figure that one out, right?! Oh, and no red wine or berries, as they stain the boat and we like the way she looks now. Thanks for understanding.
Feel free to bring finger food if you would like. We provide assorted soft drinks and water.
Clothing is optional…….just kidding!!!! Wear what seems appropriate for the time of year of your charter. Please try to wear non-marking shoes. Remember the lake is always a little cooler than the stated temperature and if you are on a sunset cruise it really cools down after sunset. We have blankets on board if you get cold, just ask and we’ll get you comfortable.
No the boat will not tip over! If the weather is bad enough to worry about tipping over we ain’t going, LOL. The boat is very safe and has all the mandatory safety equipment required by the USCG and then some.
We have lifejackets for everyone on board plus lots of extras. You don’t have to wear a lifejacket (unless you are under 10 years of age in which case they are required) but if you want one we will provide you with a comfy one.
